  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar
  • 2 large Large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Cream of tartar
For the Mix-ins
  • 1 cup Chopped maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 cup Sliced almonds

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs, almond extract, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  4. Whisk the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar in a separate bowl until combined.
  5. Sift the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, mixing until just combined to avoid overworking the dough.
  6. Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and sliced almonds.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Cool the cookies on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
