  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder for aromatic flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese five spice adds complexity
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted sesame oil for nutty flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch optional for thickening
  • 1/4 cup Water to dissolve cornstarch

How to Make Homemade Hoisin Sauce
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce and peanut butter until smooth.
  2. Drizzle in the honey and rice vinegar, stirring until glossy and uniform.
  3. Mix in the sriracha, garlic powder, and Chinese five spice until all spices are incorporated.
  4. Drizzle in the toasted sesame oil and adjust for sweetness or acidity.
  5. If using cornstarch, mix it with water, then heat in a saucepan for 1–2 minutes to thicken.
  6. Let cool before transferring to a jar for storage.
