Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 1 lb thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin beef
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper optional, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil for sautéing
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder optional
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning optional
Dough
  • 1 lb pizza dough homemade or store-bought
  • 1 large egg beaten, for egg wash
Cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup provolone or cheddar cheese optional

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until shimmering.
  2. Sauté veggies by adding sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking for 4-5 minutes until softened.
  3. Add thinly sliced beef to the vegetable mixture and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning, cooking until browned for 4-5 more minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and cool slightly.
  5. Mix in shredded mozzarella and optional provolone or cheddar until evenly distributed.
  6. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Roll out dough on a floured surface into a 12 by 16 inch rectangle.
  8. Spread filling evenly over one half of the dough, leaving a 1-2 inch border.
  9. Roll the dough over the filling, tucking in the edges to form a sealed log.
  10. Pinch the seam and ends of the dough to seal tightly.
  11. Place the stromboli seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  12. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  13. Make slits on top if desired for steam to escape.
  14. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the crust is golden brown.
  15. Let rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.
  16. Serve warm with marinara or pizza sauce for dipping.
