Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the almond flour, powdered sugar, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
- Whip the egg whites in a separate bowl until foamy, then gradually add in granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the dry mixture gently into the whipped egg whites and add the red gel food coloring until desired shade is reached.
- Pipe small circles onto the prepared baking sheets and tap each sheet gently on the counter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the shells are firm. Allow cooling completely before filling.
- Optional: Dust with cocoa powder for an elegant finish before serving.
