Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 to 6 oval patties about an inch thick.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add butter. Sauté the sliced mushrooms and remaining chopped onion for 6–8 minutes.
  5. Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stir, and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Mix cornstarch with water until smooth and add to the gravy; stir until it thickens.
  7. Return the browned patties to the skillet, spoon gravy over them, cover, and let simmer for 10–12 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle fresh thyme or chopped parsley on top before serving.
