Ingredients
  

For the Base
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Caramel Layer
  • 1 cup caramel sauce homemade or store-bought
For Topping
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt to sprinkle

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  3. Cream together the softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  4. Add the large eggs and vanilla extract, then mix until well combined.
  5. Combine in a separate bowl your all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients, until just incorporated.
  7. Spread half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  8. Drizzle the caramel sauce generously over the first layer of batter.
  9. Spread the remaining half of the batter on top of the caramel layer.
  10. Sprinkle sea salt over the top before baking.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  12. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.
